JAUPT Approved FORS Safe Urban Driving
We're pleased to announce that we are now providing JAUPT approved FORS Safe Urban Driving Courses from our Halifax Centre of Excellence Training Facility, becoming the only Transport company throughout Yorkshire to offer this service.
Driver training that saves lives! Attending a Safe Urban Driving course is also a mandatory requirement under the recently published 'Standard for Construction Logistics: Managing Work Related Road Risk' (WRRR).
The FORS Safe Urban Driving course focuses on vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. The course includes a practical 'on-road' cycle training element and gives drivers a 'real life' experience as to a cyclist's perspective of riding in urban environments. The training gets uploaded onto the FORS web site, which means the training complies with the current CLOCS (WRRR) scheme, whilst it also counts towards the 35 hours Driver CPC that professional drivers are required to complete through our JAUPT registration.
The availability of the Safe Urban Driving courses has historically been centralised in and around the capital or has required a set number of drivers to attend resulting in downtime for the operator. The need for a more flexible solution has resulted in Collett developing more accessible training, “fully committing to driver training requirements, we have created a Safe Urban Driving course that has been JAUPT approved for delivery as part of an LGV drivers CPC periodic training”, states Andy Mullen, Training Manager at Collett & Sons Ltd. “This course is now available to companies similar to us who cannot afford to have drivers taken away from operations to attend a similar course located in London, or can’t meet the requirements of having a guaranteed number of drivers attend on the same day for the course to be delivered.”
We currently have courses running at our Halifax Depot but can also cater to your company's requirements, offering flexible training solutions to suit your needs.
