Award Winning Safe Urban Driving
The 2015 Heavies Award for the Most Significant Safety Initiative goes to, Collett & Sons Ltd for Safe Urban Driving!
Since the development of the Safe Urban Driving course the Collett Training Team have been keen to introduce this to their schedule. With the availability of FORS Safe Urban Driving historically being centralised in and around London, we spotted an opportunity to deliver the course to companies outside the capital.
Piloting the scheme back in September 2014 the Training Team have continued to build on its success delivering courses to Collett Drivers and opening the doors to other companies within the industry. For companies situated outside the capital, previously employers were faced with 'down time' whilst drivers travelled to London to attend one of the courses, with the addition of this training to the Collett portfolio we have provided a more accessible solution.
Collett's Safe Urban Driving course, which is JAUPT approved, counts towards drivers required 35 hour CPC.
Focusing on vulnerable road users, the Safe Urban Driving course is the first of its kind to take drivers out of the cab and in to the saddle, experiencing the environment from the cyclists point of view and gaining first-hand experience of the urban streetscape.

There was no shortlist for this category as the judges decided that Collett's Safe Urban Driving was one outright winner. SHEQ Manager Nigel Thornton took to the stage to collect the award, our Training Manager Andy Mullen would have loved to collect the award but he was back at the office delivering one of the courses!
